On Thursday, Sept. 28, Valley View School will be having our Terry Fox assembly and run. In room 22, we learned about Terry and his journey. If possible, students have been asked to bring Toonies for Terry on Thursday to support people with cancer.
Some important forms that need to be returned went home on Sept. 21. Thank you to those who have returned the forms already. If you need another set of forms, let me know. If you are interested in volunteering on our field trip at the end of October, make sure you fill out the volunteer forms and get your Police Check done online ASAP. We'd love you have you join us! Thank you, Allison Clachrie (Miss C)

Today in Room 22, we learned our first letter as a class. We are using the Jolly Phonics program to learn letters, so letters aren't taught in alphabetical order. Today we learned what sound Ss makes and brainstormed some words that start with Ss. Here are a few of the words the students thought of:
This week in kindergarten, we will continue to discover more words that start with S! If you want to work on letter sounds with your child at home, check out: more2.starfall.com/n/level-k/index/load.htm Allison Clachrie (Miss C) It was so nice to get to meet so many of our students' families on Thursday night and enjoy some delicious food courtesy of The Rotary Club of Calgary. To those who were able to attend: I felt like I got to know you and your children a little bit better!
If you weren't able to attend, here are the main things we talked about:
Allison Clachrie (Miss C) Over the last couple of weeks, we've been learning about the three primary colours and how they mix together to make new colours. We've also been experimenting with water colour paints, and Room 22 is full of budding artists! Check out some of our artwork below.
In Room 22, we've been learning how to draw people. We learned a song about Mat Man (See the video) to help us remember to draw all our body parts. Now that we know how to draw people, we can begin to tell stories with our drawing! Our Meet the Teacher event will happen Thursday, September 14th!
Please note this is a half day for students (dismiss at 12:00PM) You are able to visit your child's classroom in an open house style, before the BBQ (3:30-4:30PM), or after the BBQ (5:30-7:00PM). Food will be served by generous volunteers with Calgary Rotary Club from 4:30-5:30PM. I look forward to seeing you then! Ms. Clachrie |
