We have been learning about butterflies and caterpillars for the last month and have learned so much. We know that butterflies are insects and that means they have six legs. We know that they taste with their feet and use their proboscis to drink nectar from flowers. We are so excited to have some visitors in our classroom for the next few weeks as we get to watch and observe their metamorphosis. We watched as they started as little tiny caterpillars and they ate, ate, ate until they were big caterpillars. Some of them have started forming their chrysalis. We are so excited to see the next stage.

Thank you so much to The Calgary Zoo for gifting us the opportunity to come learn and explore at the zoo for free. This was a subsidized program that we are so lucky we were about to be part of.
We got to learn from the experts at the zoo about Penguins. We learned about the penguin life cycle, their diet, where they live, what they look like and what we can do to help protect them. We learned that it is important for us to reduce, reuse and recycle. We had time to explore other areas of the zoo and even got a chance to see the pandas. We were excited to learn about the penguins, but more excited to see the pandas. Here are some questions you can ask your child: -Do penguins live at the North or South? -Do penguins and polar bears live in the same place? -What do penguins eat? -What likes to eat penguins? |
